H.R. No. 46 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For 34 years, John W. "Pete" Gipson has been a dedicated employee of the Texas Farm Bureau, and he is most deserving of special recognition as he celebrates his retirement from this esteemed organization; and WHEREAS, Born in Gilmer on September 4, 1940, Mr. Gipson graduated from Union Hill High School in 1958; during his high school career, this Texas farm boy established himself as a standout student of animal husbandry, twice raising Grand Champion steers in Upshur County; and WHEREAS, After attending Kilgore Junior College for two years, Mr. Gipson enrolled at Sam Houston State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in vocational agriculture and a master's degree in education; he taught vocational agriculture to the students of Harmony Independent School District for five years, during which time he married the former Mary Elizabeth Bynum, and they have since been blessed with a loving daughter, Gay; and WHEREAS, In 1969, he joined the Texas Farm Bureau, beginning a long and productive career as a field man representing 22 counties; his efforts have earned him numerous awards and honors from FFA chapters in Upshur County, reinforcing his reputation as a leader in his profession; and WHEREAS, A proud husband and father, Mr. Gipson is also a master mason at Bethesda Lodge as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; he is a man of great generosity, compassion, and commitment, and his legacy at the Texas Farm Bureau will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend John W. "Pete" Gipson for his many years of service with the Texas Farm Bureau and extend to him best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Gipson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
