R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Joey Alaniz of Weslaco is among the elite group of individuals who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this notable accomplishment indeed merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, Since beginning his association with scouting, Mr. Alaniz has steadily progressed through the ranks, earning 21 merit badges and completing an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community; and WHEREAS, An honor roll student and member of the Distinguished Achievement Plan, Eagle Scout Alaniz has participated as a member of academic and sports teams during his notable school career; this outstanding musician earned first chair in first band and was appointed baritone section officer during marching band; moreover, he advanced to the regional level in UIL current events competition, was voted Homecoming King, and was chosen Most Friendly by the senior class; and WHEREAS, Having earned more than 12 hours of college credit already, this impressive young Texan will graduate with honors in May and is planning to enroll in The University of Texas System to major in either communications or history; and WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Alaniz is deeply committed to scouting, his family, and his community, and it is a distinct pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Joey Alaniz on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend sincere wishes for future success and fulfillment; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Alaniz as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
