R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, After 9 years as Weslaco Public Library director and 
33 years in the library field, Virginia Allain is retiring on May 
30, 2004; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Allain's interest in the library profession was 
kindled in high school where she shelved books in her school 
library; being an avid reader as well, she saw the occupation of 
librarian as a natural fit; and
	WHEREAS, After gaining a master's degree in library science 
from Emporia State University in Kansas, Mrs. Allain worked in 
Ohio, Maryland, and Australia before moving to Edinburg and then 
settling in Weslaco; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Allain's dedication as Weslaco Public Library 
director has been of invaluable service to the city's many 
residents these past nine years; she believes strongly in the 
beneficial function that libraries provide to their respective 
communities, and, as a librarian, she has derived great joy from 
helping people who have turned to these important resources of 
education and enrichment; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to Virginia 
Allain on the occasion of her retirement as director of the Weslaco 
Public Library and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be 
it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Allain as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
