H.R. No. 93
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding contributions to
his community, the Three Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America
has selected Joe Domino of Beaumont as the recipient of the
organization's Distinguished Citizen Award for 2004; and
WHEREAS, President and chief executive officer of Entergy
Texas since 1998, Mr. Domino began his career in 1970 as a planning
engineer with Gulf States Utilities, which merged with Entergy in
1994; today, Entergy delivers electricity to 2.6 million utility
customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas; and
WHEREAS, Despite the demands of his career, Mr. Domino has
found time to serve on the boards of numerous civic organizations,
including the Foundation for Southeast Texas, the Lamar University
College of Engineering Advisory Council, the Lamar University
Foundation, the Texas Energy Museum, Christus St. Elizabeth
Hospital, the Symphony of Southeast Texas, and the United Way of
Beaumont and North Jefferson County; he currently serves as
chairman of the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce and as
secretary/treasurer of the Golden Triangle Business Roundtable;
and
WHEREAS, In 2003, Mr. Domino was named president of the Boy
Scouts of America's Southern Region, Area II, which encompasses
portions of West and Southeast Texas and western Louisiana and
oversees 10 Boy Scout councils and 65,000 youth; a longtime
supporter of the Three Rivers Council, Mr. Domino has served on the
council's board and has been chosen as a recipient of the
organization's prestigious Silver Antelope Award; and
WHEREAS, Many admiring friends, colleagues, and family
members are joining Governor Rick Perry in honoring Joe Domino at
the Three Rivers Council's 21st annual Distinguished Citizen Dinner
on May 20, 2004, for his unwavering dedication to his profession, to
his community, and to the Boy Scouts of America; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Joe Domino on
his receipt of the 2004 Distinguished Citizen Award from the Three
Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America and extend to him deep
appreciation for his exemplary community service; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Domino as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
