R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For 45 consecutive years as a trustee of the Aransas Pass Independent School District board, Charlie Marshall has committed himself to realizing a high standard of education in the Aransas Pass school district; and WHEREAS, Mr. Marshall's long service as trustee began in 1959; he held the office of vice president from 1961 to 1965 when he began his first term as president; his work on the board has helped to provide the children of Aransas Pass with educational opportunities with which they can achieve their goals and aspirations; and WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Marshall has been actively involved in his community in a wide range of areas; he has been the recipient of several civic awards for his many achievements performed in behalf of the people of the city, and numerous organizations have greatly benefited from the indefatigable leadership of this selfless individual; in 1997, a newly built elementary school was named in his honor to recognize his contributions to Aransas Pass; and WHEREAS, Born in Skidmore, Mr. Marshall moved to Aransas Pass and opened his business, Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., in 1949, yet over the past five decades, his true investment has been in the welfare of all of his fellow residents and the growth and prosperity of their community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to Charlie Marshall for his 45 years of service as trustee on the Aransas Pass Independent School District board of trustees and extend to him sincere appreciation for his immeasurable contributions to his adopted hometown; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Marshall as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
