H.R. No. 111



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Colin David Renner of Boy Scouts of America Troop 
604 of the Sam Houston Area Council, sponsored by St. Stephen's 
United Methodist Church, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout; and
	WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant 
honor, bestowed on only a fraction of those who enter the scouting 
movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, 
Mr. Renner earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully 
completed an Eagle Scout project that provided improvements to St. 
Matthew's United Methodist Church's kitchen, preschool 
administrative offices and classrooms, and grounds; and
	WHEREAS, The son of proud parents David and Linda Renner, 
this fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership 
ability throughout his scouting career; in addition to earning the 
Arrow of Light Award, he has served his fellow scouts as patrol 
leader for five consecutive terms, winning their respect and 
admiration as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting 
offers; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Renner is a member of the graduating class of 
2005 at Lamar High School, where he studies in the international 
baccalaureate program and business magnet program; Mr. Renner is a 
member of the National Honor Society, student council, National 
Spanish Honor Society, and American Field Service, as well as being 
a talented clarinet and saxophone player who participates in the 
school's marching, concert, and jazz bands; and
	WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Renner's dedication to excellence and 
his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy 
to stand among scouting's elite, and it is most appropriate that he 
be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Colin David 
Renner on his receipt of the Eagle Scout insignia and extend to him 
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Renner as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
