                                                                  H.R. No. 113



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The untimely death of Matthew Wayne Bartkowiak of 
Houston on January 5, 2004, at the age of 40, has brought a profound 
loss to the family and many friends of this loved and respected man; 
and
	WHEREAS, Born to Dorothy and Robert L. Bartkowiak, Sr., Mr. 
Bartkowiak graduated from the University of Houston with a 
bachelor's degree and a master's degree in fine arts; and
	WHEREAS, A gifted costume designer, Mr. Bartkowiak had worked 
with a number of theatrical groups over the course of his career; 
resident costume designer at the College of the Mainland in Texas 
City at the time of his passing, he had also assisted the designers 
on two films and spent a summer with Glimmerglass Opera Company in 
Cooperstown, New York; and
	WHEREAS, Although Matthew Wayne Bartkowiak will be deeply 
missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives 
he touched; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay special tribute to the 
life of Matthew Wayne Bartkowiak and extend deepest sympathy to the 
members of his family: to his mother, Dorothy Bartkowiak; to his 
brothers, Robert Bartkowiak, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, and Steven 
Bartkowiak and his wife, Richele; to his sisters, Charlene Jones 
and her husband, Robert, and Natalie Sorosiak and her husband, 
Kevin; to his nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Katherine 
Bartkowiak, Sara and Bobby Jones, Stephanie and Nathan Sorosiak, 
and Evan Bartkowiak; to his grandparents, Joe and Josephine Polito; 
and to the numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving friends of 
this distinguished man; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Matthew 
Wayne Bartkowiak.
