R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Miguel David Wise III of Boy Scouts of America Troop 
100 in Weslaco has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, an 
accomplishment that aptly reflects the exemplary character of this 
young Texan; and
	WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant 
honor, bestowed on only a fraction of those who enter the scouting 
movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, 
Mr. Wise earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully 
completed an Eagle Scout project, which involved landscaping the 
grounds surrounding Weslaco's city hall and the mayor's office 
while the city competed for All-America City honors; and
	WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Representative Miguel D. 
and Erin Duffy Wise, this fine young man has demonstrated 
outstanding leadership ability throughout his scouting career; in 
addition to earning the Arrow of Light Award, he has served his 
fellow scouts as assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, 
assistant patrol leader, den chief, and historian, winning their 
respect and admiration as he worked toward the highest rank that 
scouting offers; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Wise is a junior at Weslaco High School who has 
participated in the Duke University Talent Identification Program, 
Skills USA V.I.C.A., and University Interscholastic League 
competition; in 2001, he earned recognition as an All-American 
Scholar from the United States Achievement Academy, and he is on the 
honor roll; and
	WHEREAS, An accomplished skateboarder, Mr. Wise employs his 
talents to serve others by organizing skateboard programs for the 
City of Weslaco and myriad nonprofit organizations; in his spare 
time, he produces, directs, and edits his own skateboarding movies; 
and
	WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Wise's dedication to excellence and his 
perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to 
stand among scouting's elite, and it is most appropriate that he be 
honored at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Miguel D. Wise 
III on his receipt of the Eagle Scout insignia and extend to him 
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Wise as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
