R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Robert Leon Elder was named the 2003 Outstanding Older Worker of Texas at the Experience Works Prime Time Awards program held on January 23, 2004; and WHEREAS, Sponsored for the past five years by Experience Works, Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to the welfare of older professionals, the program recognizes the valuable contributions of senior Americans at the local, state, and national levels; and WHEREAS, Mr. Elder's selection for this prestigious honor is based on his work for the Texas Workforce Commission, where he has set high standards of excellence for others to emulate; employed as a business service representative at the Hays County Workforce Center for the last 10 years, this accomplished public servant has aided and motivated many people in their search for satisfying, meaningful careers; and WHEREAS, Mr. Elder has also benefited the public through his service with the U.S. Army for 28 years, during which time he served in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam and at the Pentagon; following his retirement from the military with the rank of colonel in 1981, he worked as a planner and proposal writer at Lockheed for 11 years; and WHEREAS, In his decade-long position at the Texas Workforce Commission, Mr. Elder has proven an invaluable resource to countless job-seekers, and his contributions have immeasurably enhanced the lives of many people; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Robert Leon Elder on being named the Prime Time Awards program's 2003 Outstanding Older Worker of Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Elder as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
