R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Margaret Phillips Pakis of Waco were deeply saddened by the passing of this beloved lady on December 25, 2003, at the age of 71; and WHEREAS, Born on January 2, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Mrs. Pakis was raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she graduated from high school in 1950; after attending Texas Christian University for two years, she earned her degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1955; and WHEREAS, The former Margaret Phillips married Bill Pakis on November 5, 1955, in Hot Springs, and their enduring union was blessed with three daughters and a son; in November 1957, the couple moved to Waco, where she remained a lifelong resident and was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church; and WHEREAS, A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Pakis enjoyed spending time with her family as well as reading, traveling, painting, and visiting the seashore; she positively influenced the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her, and she will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Margaret Phillips Pakis and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, William R. Pakis; to her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Katherine and Dean Tetirick, Laura and Michael O'Brien, and Alison and Boyd Naylor; to her son and daughter-in-law, David and Kovianca Pakis; to her grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, and Stephen Tetirick, Mike, Shannon, and Kyle O'Brien, Brooks, Jared, and Reagan Naylor, and Nicholas Pakis; to her brother and sister-in-law, James and Peggy Phillips; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Margaret Phillips Pakis.
