R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 2004 Midway High School Pantherettes girls
soccer team has completed an impressive season that featured
outstanding coaching, remarkable teamwork, and several superlative
individual efforts; and
WHEREAS, The Pantherettes compiled a 19-3-3 record and
finished second at the 4A State Championships; the team was led by
first-year coach Bill Sharp, the Waco Tribune-Herald's Coach of the
Year, who instilled confidence in a talented but inexperienced
young squad; and
WHEREAS, Also contributing to the team's successful season
were junior goalkeeper Chrissy Haisler, the 2004 Player of the
Year, and freshman midfielder Brandi Neilson, the 2004 Newcomer of
the Year; Ms. Haisler surrendered only 12 goals all season and
posted 18 shutouts, while Ms. Neilson led the team with 16 assists
and scored 17 goals; and
WHEREAS, With a powerful offense, a smothering defense, and a
solid core of young and talented players, the Pantherettes seem
poised for dominance in the upcoming seasons, and it is a pleasure
to wish them well in their quest for a state crown; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Coach Bill
Sharp, goalkeeper Chrissy Haisler, and midfielder Brandi Neilson on
their individual achievements and commend the team on its stellar
season; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
