R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Distinguished Texan Hally Bryan Clements of Victoria will celebrate her 80th birthday on May 27, 2004, and this occasion offers a fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed woman; and WHEREAS, A native of Houston, she is a graduate of the Madeira School and Vassar College, where she received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics; after operating a successful cattle ranch in Canada for many years, she and her husband, Thurman, relocated to Kerrville in 1974 and eventually settled in Victoria, where they are active members of the community; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Clements has served on the boards of the Victoria Regional Museum Association, the Junior League, and the Victoria Country Club; she is a founding member of the Court Appointed Special Advocates advisory board and is the driving force behind the Victoria County Republican Women; and WHEREAS, A longtime supporter of the Republican Party in Texas, she has served as a delegate to nearly every district and state Republican convention; at the 2000 Republican State Convention, this dedicated individual received a rare honor when she was elected to represent the State of Texas as a presidential elector, and she proudly cast her vote for George W. Bush, who became our nation's 43rd president; and WHEREAS, Demonstrating passion and commitment in all she has undertaken, Hally Bryan Clements has truly achieved success in her many endeavors, and it is a privilege to recognize her as she celebrates her 80th birthday; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby honor Hally Bryan Clements on the joyous occasion of her 80th birthday and extend to her best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Clements as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
