R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Mildred P. "Millie" Eubanks of Kerrville on April 19, 2004, at the age of 83, has brought a great loss to the family and friends of this vivacious woman; and WHEREAS, Born Mildred Patterson on May 29, 1920, in Port Lavaca, Mrs. Eubanks had resided in Kerrville since 1978; she married her husband, Fred, on June 15, 1941, and they were blessed with one daughter, Marsha; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Eubanks was active with Hunt United Methodist Church, the Kerr County Republican Women's Club, and the Military Officers Association; during World War II, she served her country by working in a B-24 aircraft factory in California and by offering moral support to her husband, a United States marine; and WHEREAS, An adventurous and daring woman, she traveled under an American diplomatic passport around the world while accompanying her husband, who was with the U.S. State Department; they lived in Bangkok during the Vietnam War, and she was the first American woman to ascend Marble Mountain Outpost near Da Nang, barely escaping several Viet Cong rocket attacks during her time in Vietnam; and WHEREAS, Millie Eubanks was a woman of great warmth, compassion, and grace, and although she will be missed by all who knew and loved her, her spirit will remain in their hearts for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Mildred P. "Millie" Eubanks and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Lt. Col. Fred F. Eubanks, USMC, Ret.; to her daughter, Marsha Dell E. Copeland, and her husband, David Joe Copeland; to her brothers, Marvin J. Patterson, Willard Patterson, and Victor Patterson; to her grandchildren, Ross Alan Copeland and his wife, Tracy, and Douglas Ray Copeland and his wife, Kellie; to her great-grandson, Connor Lewis Copeland; and to the many other relatives and friends of this beloved woman; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mildred P.
