R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mamawa M. Moore truly merits special recognition for
her years of outstanding service as a teacher; and
WHEREAS, Currently on the faculty of Our Mother of Mercy
Catholic School in Houston, Ms. Moore has previously taught at
Deady Middle School and Forest Brook High School, also in Houston;
prior to her arrival in Texas, she taught at Grahamwood Elementary
School in Memphis, Tennessee, and Barnes Foundation School in
Monrovia, Liberia; and
WHEREAS, A recipient of a Fulbright scholarship in 1989, Ms.
Moore received her bachelor's degree in elementary education at the
Teachers College of the University of Liberia, where she received
an Academic Achievement Award, and her master's degree in social
studies education at the Teachers College of Columbia University in
New York; after completing her studies at Columbia, a civil war in
Liberia prevented Ms. Moore from returning to her homeland; through
the Fulbright Commission, she was granted protective status to
remain in the United States and the opportunity to bring her husband
and children to join her in America; and
WHEREAS, In her tenure at Our Mother of Mercy, this exemplary
educator has earned the respect and the admiration of her students
and her colleagues, and her passion for teaching has enriched the
lives of many; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Mamawa M. Moore for
her dedicated service to the students of Our Mother of Mercy
Catholic School in Houston and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success and fulfillment in her worthy endeavors; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Moore as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
