R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A small contingent of Pflugerville High School (PHS) students competed impressively in the Texas State Economics Challenge on April 14, 2004, claiming fourth place; and WHEREAS, Under the direction of teacher Karen Hense, the members of this exceptional group include Rhys Davis, Shams Kazmi, Michael Romer, and Ben Stokes; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by both the National Council on Economic Education and the Goldman Sachs Foundation, the State Economics Challenge tests the students' knowledge in three areas: microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international economics and current events over four rounds of rigorous competition; and WHEREAS, The achievements of the PHS students, the first from the school to participate in the competition, are a testament to their diligence and academic ability, and their accomplishments are indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the Pflugerville High School Economics Challenge team for placing fourth in the State Economics Challenge and extend to them sincere best wishes for success in all their future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Pflugerville High School Economics Challenge team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
