R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Manuel Ibarra, Jr., of Elsa, is concluding an
outstanding 34-year career with the Edinburg Consolidated
Independent School District (ECISD) when he retires as driver
coordinator in the year 2004; and
WHEREAS, Since joining the ECISD in August 1970, Mr. Ibarra
has ably served the district's transportation department as bus
driver, parts chaser, mechanic helper, mechanic, assistant shop
foreman, driver supervisor, and driver coordinator; in this last
role, he was responsible for 150 bus drivers, their routes across
the 945-square-mile school district, and their itineraries for
field trips and extracurricular activities; and
WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Mr. Ibarra has ensured
the safe and efficient transportation of young Texans to and from
school; he has served the Edinburg CISD with integrity and
dedication, earning the lasting respect of all who have been
privileged to work with him, and it is a pleasure to commend him for
his exemplary tenure as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in
his life; and
WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Peña has justly recognized
Manuel Ibarra, Jr., by passing this resolution in his behalf during
the 4th Called Session of the 78th Legislature; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby honor Manuel Ibarra, Jr.,
on his retirement as driver coordinator for the Edinburg
Consolidated Independent School District and extend to him sincere
best wishes for future happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ibarra as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
