R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A courageous Texan who demonstrated unflinching
bravery and a resolute commitment to fulfill his oath, regardless
of personal consequences, has returned home from the battlefield;
and
WHEREAS, U.S. Army Reserve Second Lieutenant Jose Manuel
Sanchez embarked from his military base in support of our nation's
campaign to liberate Iraqi citizens from repression; serving with
the 288th Quartermaster Company, he helped distribute nearly
700,000 gallons of water daily to American soldiers and Iraqi
civilians alike; and
WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father of three, Lieutenant
Sanchez graduated from Texas A&M University--Kingsville and is a
teacher in Rio Grande City; he earned a host of accolades during his
military service, including the Army Commendation Medal, the Army
Achievement Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary
Medal and has now returned to his home country, where the dedication
he demonstrated will not be forgotten; and
WHEREAS, The sacrifices made by Lieutenant Sanchez and his
fellow soldiers while serving their country in Iraq have earned the
heartfelt gratitude of all Americans, who join his family and the
members of this body in applauding his safe return; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby honor U.S. Army Reserve
Second Lieutenant Jose Manuel Sanchez for bravery displayed during
Operation Iraqi Freedom and extend to him sincere gratitude for his
efforts and best wishes for a bright future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Lieutenant Sanchez as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
