R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rodney J. Walter, a native Texan of sterling character, has earned the respect and admiration of countless Texans during more than four decades of dedication to the students of the Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving; and WHEREAS, An alumnus of the University of Dallas, from which he received a bachelor's degree in education, and the University of North Texas, from which he earned a master's degree in history, Mr. Walter is highly regarded as an authority on Texas history; through the years, he has led classrooms of young men enrolled at Cistercian on field trips to notable sites in Austin, San Antonio, San Jacinto, and other places during which he enthusiastically shares his prodigious knowledge of Texas; and WHEREAS, This esteemed educator has served in various roles during his longtime association with the Cistercian school; in addition to heading its history department, he has directed the transportation department, served as form master, yearbook advisor, administrative assistant, school bus driver, and mentor to scores of faculty members, and assisted in such areas as employee health insurance and retirement programs; and WHEREAS, Lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his devoted wife and three sons, Mr. Walter demonstrates an admirable work ethic and deep commitment to his family, his profession, and his community that were no doubt forged during his early life growing up on his family's farm in Muenster; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Rodney J. Walter for his exceptional dedication to the Cistercian Preparatory School and that he be extended sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Walter as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
