R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Janice Gabriel of Houston has long benefited her 
community through her professional and civic endeavors; and
	WHEREAS, A resident of Mangum Manor subdivision, she has 
served as president of its civic club with great distinction since 
2001; from organizing protests and addressing key environmental 
issues to leading beautification projects, she has tirelessly 
striven to make her neighborhood a better place in which to live and 
raise a family; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to her important work with the Mangum 
Manor Civic Club, Mrs. Gabriel, a former elementary school teacher 
and magna cum laude graduate of the University of Houston, has given 
freely of her time and talents to several noteworthy organizations;  
president-elect of the Houston Retired Teachers Association, she is 
also legislative chair for the Zeta Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma 
and an active member of the St. Ambrose Altar Society; and
	WHEREAS, Through the years, Janice Gabriel has touched the 
lives of many, both as a teacher and as an activist, while 
contributing to the preservation and enrichment of the community 
she is proud to call home; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Janice Gabriel for 
her outstanding record of community service and extend to her 
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Gabriel as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
