R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the H. M. King High School Key Club in Kingsville are visiting the State Capitol on May 13, 2004, and it is a pleasure to welcome them to Austin; and WHEREAS, In April, the Key Club hosted a successful two-day, community-wide event, the Josh Johnson Memorial Scholarship Festival, or "Josh Fest"; proceeds augment a scholarship fund in behalf of King High School seniors in memory of Josh Johnson, who passed on in 1999; he was the son of Kenny and Twila Johnson, the latter of whom teaches at the high school; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson's advanced placement government class established the school's Key Club chapter and planned this year's festival, which was a national winner of the Teens, Crime and the Community Action Project; the Kingsville students involved with this commendable effort were honored at a Washington, D.C., reception during the National Youth Crime Prevention Conference and International Forum; and WHEREAS, The young men and women of the Key Club of H. M. King High School in Kingsville have shown admirable dedication and commitment to their school and their community, and it is indeed appropriate that this worthy organization be recognized; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby welcome the H. M. King High School Key Club members to Austin and extend to these exceptional young Texans sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
