R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to commend Veronica Janette Cerna of Eagle Pass for her myriad accomplishments as a legislative aide to Representative Timoteo Garza and to congratulate her on her graduation from The University of Texas at Austin on May 22, 2004; and WHEREAS, Earning degrees in both English and government while balancing her duties in behalf of the house, Ms. Cerna has ably served the constituents of District 80 with pride and distinction; throughout her outstanding tenure with Representative Garza, she has demonstrated initiative and dedication to excellence and earned the lasting respect and admiration of her colleagues; and WHEREAS, Despite her busy schedule, Ms. Cerna has also shown an ongoing commitment to the betterment of her community; president of Sigma Delta Lambda, a community service and fraternal organization devoted to enriching local youth through tutoring and mentoring, she also volunteers with UT Reads and is a member of Beta Alpha Rho, a pre-law fraternity; and WHEREAS, This talented young woman is poised to embark on a new chapter in her life as a student at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University; in the years to come she will undoubtedly remain a positive role model and continue to excel in each new task she takes on, making a significant difference in the lives of many; at this time, it is a pleasure to honor her for her remarkable record of service and to wish her well; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Veronica Janette Cerna for her deep commitment to her fellow Texans and extend to her sincere congratulations on her college graduation and best wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Cerna as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
