R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The United States Army Medical Command at Fort Sam Houston took part in the nationwide observance of Black History Month, which recognizes the innumerable achievements of African Americans in the annals of our state and nation; and WHEREAS, The U.S. Army Medical Command is a world-class health care system delivering top-quality medical care and health education for soldiers and veterans as well as their families; recognizing the significant contributions that African Americans have long rendered in the U.S. armed forces and the vital role they play in the ongoing protection of our nation, the Black History Committee of the Medical Command at Fort Sam Houston seeks to commend the many heroic sacrifices that these courageous Americans have made over the centuries in our country's behalf; and WHEREAS, Since 1926, the month of February has been recognized as Black History Month, and this important observance provides a fitting occasion for this nation's citizens to honor those patriotic African American men and women who, throughout this nation's history, have accepted the challenges of military life to serve the cause of freedom; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the U.S. Army Medical Command at Fort Sam Houston for its efforts to pay tribute to those valiant African American soldiers whose service has helped to secure this nation's treasured liberties; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the command as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
