R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The community of Fair Play has lost a beloved
citizen with the passing of Annie Williams Pipkin on April 18, 2004,
at the grand age of 95; and
WHEREAS, Born near the beginning of the last century, Mrs.
Pipkin saw the world undergo a great many changes in her 95 years,
and she herself lived a full, long life; as a young woman she
married Tom Pipkin, and, during a union that spanned 32 years until
his death, they raised a fine family of four children; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Pipkin was a devout Christian and a member of
Jerusalem Baptist Church; she committed much time and energy to her
faith and beliefs, serving as Sunday school teacher, treasurer,
mission president, and usher for her congregation; for more than 48
years, this remarkable woman had also been a member of the Heroines
of Jericho, Josie Court No. 74, a female order of the Masonic body
that recognizes women who adhere to a firm sense of morality,
loyalty, and friendship and strive to better the lives of the
disadvantaged; and
WHEREAS, Although she will be missed, Annie Pipkin leaves
behind memories of her kindness and compassion that will long
endure among those with whom she shared the richness of her life;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Annie Williams Pipkin and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
her family: to her daughters, Hattie Mae Allison and Lessie Faye
Pipkin; to her "special daughter," Valerie Ross Barron; to her nine
grandchildren; to her 34 great-grandchildren; to her 33
great-great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends.
