R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The year 2004 marks the retirement of Humberto Saénz
from the Weslaco Independent School District (ISD), drawing to a
close an outstanding 37-year career with the district; and
WHEREAS, A Mission High School graduate, Mr. Saénz earned his
bachelor of science degree in education from Pan American College
and received his master's degree in counseling from Texas Tech
University; and
WHEREAS, Joining Weslaco ISD in 1966, Mr. Saénz taught third
grade at Leoline Horton Elementary and fifth grade science at
Louise Black Elementary before serving as a counselor and then
moving into education administration; and
WHEREAS, In 1977, he became principal at Louise Black
Elementary, and during his tenure the school won a 1987-1988 "Just
Say No" National Award; he was also coprincipal at Roosevelt
Elementary School and principal at Horton Elementary, the Weslaco
ISD Guidance Center, the Stephen F. Austin prekindergarten program
campus, and Cleckler-Heald Elementary; and
WHEREAS, A respected administrator, Mr. Saénz has served the
Weslaco ISD with integrity and dedication; he has earned the
lasting respect of all who have been fortunate enough to work with
him, and it is a pleasure to honor him as he embarks on this exciting
new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Humberto
Saénz on his retirement from the Weslaco Independent School
District and extend to him sincere best wishes for future
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Saénz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
