R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Houston native Bryan Gates is among the elite group of men who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this notable accomplishment indeed merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, Since beginning his association with scouting as a first grader in Tiger Cubs, Mr. Gates has steadily progressed through the ranks, earning the Arrow of Light Award, the Fifty Miler Award, and the Ad Altare Dei Catholic scout religious award; a member of the Order of the Arrow, he has attended summer camp four times, participated in three high adventure trips, and attended the Boy Scouts national leadership camp; and WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Gates has ably served his fellow scouts in Troop 40 as assistant patrol leader, troop historian, instructor, troop guide, assistant senior patrol leader, and senior patrol leader; moreover, he has met the exacting requirements of 26 merit badges and successfully completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community; and WHEREAS, An honor student at St. Thomas High School, he served as assistant captain and won three varsity letters as a member of the city champion Eagles hockey team; involved with the Spanish Club and the Respect Life Club as well, this outstanding young Texan anticipates majoring in political science at Texas State University-San Marcos; and WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Gates is deeply committed to scouting, his family, and his community, and it is a distinct pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Bryan Gates on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend best wishes for future success and fulfillment; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Gates as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
