R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Elo Meisetschlaeger on September 22, 2003, at the age of 84, brought a great loss to his family and wide circle of friends; and WHEREAS, This native Texan was born on January 20, 1919, in Moulton and served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army, where he earned the Air Medal, a Presidential Citation, and the Oak Leaf Cluster; and WHEREAS, A respected community leader, Mr. Meisetschlaeger distinguished himself through the years serving as mayor pro-tem, city councilman, and secretary of the Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce; his career included teaching elementary school and employment as an accountant, and he was a valued member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Mr. Meisetschlaeger married his beloved wife Susie on November 30, 1939, and the couple were blessed with four children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; infinitely proud of his family, he also loved baseball, the Houston Rockets, Mardi Gras, and trips to the casino; and WHEREAS, Beloved and respected, Elo Meisetschlaeger gave back to his community in myriad ways, and he leaves behind a legacy of achievement that will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby honor the life of Elo Meisetschlaeger and extend sincere sympathy to his family: to his children, James and his wife, Sharon; Thomas and his wife, Jan; Sidney; Susanne Spindler and her husband, George III; and Iris; to his grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Michelle; Amanda; Christopher; Sharon; and John; to his great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Caitlin, Amelia, Hannah, and Rachel; to his siblings, Stella, Ollie, Jack, Lee, and George; to Rhonda Campbell and Ann Frazier; and to the other relatives and many friends of this beloved gentleman; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Elo Meisetschlaeger.
