H.R. No. 328
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The retirement of John Charles Fling as
superintendent of the Yoakum Independent School District (ISD)
concludes a lengthy and impressive career dedicated to students of
the Lone Star State; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fling holds a bachelor's degree from Southwest
Texas State College, a master's degree from McNeese State
University, and mid-management and superintendent certification
from the University of Houston at Victoria; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of more than three decades in the
field of education, Mr. Fling served as a high school band director,
principal of Yoakum Intermediate School, administrative assistant,
and assistant superintendent, before becoming superintendent in
2001; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fling has been accorded a host of accolades
during his tenure, including the Yoakum Band Boosters Appreciation
Award, the Yoakum Bulldog Booster Club Appreciation Award, and an
Honorary Lone Star Texas FFA Degree Area X; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Fling has set high
standards to which all educators and administrators may aspire, and
his contributions to Yoakum ISD will benefit the community for many
years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Mr. John Charles
Fling on the occasion of his retirement as superintendent of the
Yoakum Independent School District and extend to him sincere best
wishes for happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Fling as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
