R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On April 13, 2004, the quick-witted actions of Judd
Dozier and Stephen Hatchel helped to save Ben Hatchel from almost
certain death by drowning; and
WHEREAS, The three young friends were fishing in a creek
south of their homes when Ben fell into the water and hit his head;
demonstrating tremendous bravery and presence of mind, Judd pulled
his friend from the brook and began performing the airway breathing
and circulation (ABC) procedure he had been taught in school while
Stephen ran to get help; and
WHEREAS, In a moment of sudden crisis, the courageous and
generous instincts of Judd Dozier and Stephen Hatchel propelled
them to take decisive action, and their swift and knowledgeable
responses were instrumental in saving a young man's life; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby honor Judd Dozier and
Stephen Hatchel for rescuing Ben Hatchel and extend to them sincere
best wishes for success and happiness in the years to come; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for these courageous young men as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
