R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Honorable Chuck Hopson has been named a 
distinguished alumnus by the University of Houston's College of 
Pharmacy, and on February 21, 2004, he was honored by the college's 
faculty, staff, alumni, and donors at the Ninth Annual Stewardship 
Dinner; and
	WHEREAS, A Jacksonville native, Representative Hopson earned 
his master's degree in pharmacy in 1965; he has served his community 
as an independent pharmacy owner since 1973 and continues to serve 
his fellow citizens in his role as a state representative; and
	WHEREAS, Representative Hopson has distinguished himself as 
a member of the Texas Pharmacy Association, the Nan Travis Hospital 
Foundation, and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce; he is a past 
president of the Texas Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the 
Central East Texas Pharmacy Association and is a recent appointee 
to the board of trustees of Jacksonville's Lon Morris College; and
	WHEREAS, Public service and community involvement are 
touchstones in the career of this esteemed gentleman, and it is a 
pleasure and a privilege to honor him at this time; now, therefore, 
be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Honorable 
Chuck Hopson on his selection as a distinguished alumnus of the 
University of Houston's College of Pharmacy and recognize him for 
his longstanding commitment to serving the citizens of the Lone 
Star State; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Representative Hopson as an expression of high regard 
from his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
