SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Coppell High School boys soccer team, which recently won the Class 5A boys state championship title; and WHEREAS, The Coppell Cowboys were victorious in their third appearance at the state tournament, defeating Ronald Reagan High School of San Antonio by a score of 3-2 on April 10, 2004, in a game that was delayed three times by rain and lightning; and WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the school year, ending the season with a 25-0-2 record; team members Justin Cheshire, Kyle Schroeder, Ramin Askari, Andrew Stephens, Brian Hart, Estevan Arbaiza, Ryan Sullivan, Jeff Eckert, Chandler Diggs, Stephen Chevannes, Ben Stewart, Nicky Courtney, Craig Bartlett, Scott Geppert, Aaron VanOverschelde, Will Segler, Blake Lupton, Justin Thomas, Jordan Roach, Brian Roscovius, Terrell Hinds, Eric Defreitas, Stephen Sawyer, Craig Schroeder, John Conner, Elias Mendoza, Jeff Ridley, Jon Ridley, and Scott Barowsky can take pride in their outstanding performance; and WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of head coach John Lawhon, assistant coaches Mike Ridley and Tommy Sills, and athletic director John Crawford, the Cowboys have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and WHEREAS, Coppell High School and the City of Coppell are proud of the Cowboys for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the Coppell High School Cowboys for their successful season and congratulate them on winning the boys Class 5A state soccer championship; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
