SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Mark Glenn Stautzenberger on the occasion of his retirement as the 17th mayor of the City of Seguin; and WHEREAS, Mark Stautzenberger was first elected to the office of mayor in 1996, after serving on the Seguin City Council for 10 years; he was reelected in 2000; over the years, he has earned the reputation as a compassionate conservative who brought leadership to his position based on the principle of personal responsibility and a belief in strong families and communities; and WHEREAS, During his tenure, Seguin has grown more than 78 percent in size and 10 percent in population through annexation; bond packages totaling more than $16 million for building and home improvements were passed, and a five-year program to upgrade equipment and facilities was instituted; his commitment to city employees has been evident in the upgrading of employee salaries and benefits; and WHEREAS, A native of Seguin, Mayor Stautzenberger attended Southwest Texas State University and is currently a project manager with Wunderlich Builders/General Contractors, the company with which he has worked for over 28 years; he holds memberships and actively participates in numerous civic organizations, and he has been married for 19 years to Thalia Patlan Stautzenberger, with whom he has one son, Marcus; and WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Mayor Stautzenberger has been a highly respected public official and community leader, and his many accomplishments reflect his dedication to the City of Seguin; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Mark Glenn Stautzenberger for his invaluable contributions to the citizens of Seguin and extend to him best wishes in his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
