SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 24
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Kingdom Come Community Development Corporation on the
occasion of the ground-breaking ceremony on April 29, 2004, for
the development of Kingdom Come Place in southeast Houston; and
WHEREAS, Kingdom Come Community Development Corporation
was founded in 1999; with the assistance of Local Initiatives
Support Corporation and South Trust Bank, the corporation has
purchased land for the development of Kingdom Come Place, a
low-to-moderate-income residential housing project that will
include a Kingdom Come Community Center; the center will provide
an array of services and programs for youths and adults living in
Kingdom Come Place and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, The redevelopment of the southeast Houston area
is vital to the community; area citizens have long suffered from
a lack of economic security, poor social services, and a shortage
of housing projects; and
WHEREAS, The Kingdom Come Community Development Corporation
and its supporters deserve recognition for initiating a development
project that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives
of numerous southeast Houston citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend members of
the Kingdom Come Community Development Corporation for their
work on behalf of the citizens of Houston and extend best wishes
to all who are participating in the development of Kingdom Come
Place; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
