SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 47
In Memory
of
Christopher Ramirez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Edinburg in mourning the loss of United States Army
Sergeant Christopher Ramirez, who died on April 14, 2004, at the
age of 34, while serving his country during Operation Iraqi
Freedom; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Ramirez made the ultimate sacrifice for
his country in a foreign land during a time of extreme danger; he
was a brave soldier, and his death represents the sacrifices made
by members of our military and their families; and
WHEREAS, A 14-year United States Army veteran, Chris was
serving with the 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas,
and was on his third tour of duty in Iraq; he had previously served
in the Persian Gulf War and as a peacekeeper in Kosovo; and
WHEREAS, Chris was a member of a large and devoted family
who will miss his laughter, his playful manner, and his zest for
life; and
WHEREAS, He was a loyal son, a dependable brother, and a true
American hero, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to
United States Army Sergeant Christopher Ramirez and extend
sincere condolences to his bereaved family; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
Sergeant Christopher Ramirez.
