SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 64
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Southwest General Hospital for its 25 years of
outstanding service to southwest San Antonio; and
WHEREAS, Southwest General Hospital was established by a
group of physicians and businessmen who joined together to build
a health care facility to meet the needs of people in this area of
San Antonio; a ground-breaking ceremony for the new hospital
occurred on December 7, 1977, and dedication ceremonies were held
on May 7, 1979; and
WHEREAS, Today, Southwest General Hospital offers all major
medical services; it provides medical, surgical, emergency, and
intensive care and is able to offer rehabilitation, physical
therapy, and radiology and diagnostic services; and
WHEREAS, The BirthPlace, the hospital's maternity center,
cares for mothers-to-be and their families; in 2003, the Long Term
Acute Care Unit opened and the Wish Center for gastric bypass
surgery began seminars; and
WHEREAS, Southwest General Hospital provides high-quality
health care for countless San Antonio residents and other people
who need medical services; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby recognize Southwest
General Hospital for its exceptional health care services and
commend its board members, doctors, and staff on their
outstanding work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the hospital as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
