SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 98
In Memory
of
Dr. Carole Durrett Graham
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Amarillo in mourning the loss of Dr. Carole Durrett Graham,
who died on April 12, 2004, at the age of 41; and
WHEREAS, Carole Durrett was born in Amarillo on
January 8, 1963; she graduated as the class salutatorian of
Tascosa High School in 1981 and received the first Joni Whitlock
Scholarship; she studied at Texas A&M University and Amarillo
College; and
WHEREAS, Carole graduated from West Texas A&M University
in 1985 and from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
School of Medicine in 1989; she received her license as a medical
doctor in Texas in 1991; in 1993, she married Raymond Scott Graham,
with whom she shared a loving marriage; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Graham practiced medicine in Amarillo with a
specialization in psychiatry until her health required her to
retire; she participated in many different professional and
social organizations, including Morning Star and the HOST program
of the Amarillo Independent School District; she also served as a
member of the board of directors of the Amarillo Area Foundation
for many years; and
WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Carole Graham gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her
wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those
who knew her; and
WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she was a member of the First
Church of Christ Scientist; and
WHEREAS, Carole Graham lived her life to the fullest, and
her valor in the face of her illness was an inspiration to others;
she was a devoted wife, and she leaves behind memories that
will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Carole Durrett Graham: her
husband, Raymond Scott Graham; her mother, Patricia Patton Durrett;
her brothers, John Randall, Robert, Allen, and Louis Durrett; and
her eight nephews and seven nieces; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Carole Durrett Graham.
