SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 99
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the first Law Enforcement Ceremony in Big Spring, Texas,
which is taking place on May 12, 2004; and
WHEREAS, The first Law Enforcement Ceremony is occurring
in conjunction with National Law Enforcement Week; this
special week was established by President John Fitzgerald Kennedy
in 1962 to honor law enforcement officers for their outstanding
dedication to making our country safe and to pay tribute to those
who have lost their lives in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, The people of Big Spring are holding this special
ceremony to demonstrate their appreciation of the critically
important public safety work to which peace officers dedicate
themselves; and
WHEREAS, Law enforcement officers bring courage and high
moral principles to their responsibilities as they face unique
challenges and dangerous situations each day in carrying out
their duties; and
WHEREAS, These officers are exceptional men and women,
and the first Law Enforcement Ceremony in Big Spring provides the
opportunity to acknowledge their dedicated service to the public;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend law
enforcement officers in the Lone Star State and throughout our
nation for their devoted service and join the citizens of
Big Spring in paying tribute to such outstanding public servants;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
