SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 105
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, retired United States
Army Lieutenant Colonel and renowned motivational speaker; and
WHEREAS, Colonel Kickbusch grew up in a poor barrio in
Laredo, overcoming challenges of poverty, discrimination, and
illiteracy to become a leadership role model for her community;
and
WHEREAS, She became the highest ranking Hispanic woman in
the United States Army's combat support field before retiring in
1996 to pursue her mission of preparing tomorrow's leaders today;
and
WHEREAS, After an exemplary 20-year military career,
Consuelo Kickbusch founded Educational Achievement Services,
Incorporated; she consults with corporations and government
agencies to encourage leadership and improve employee performance,
and she holds seminars and workshops to help develop leadership
skills; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping the youth of America,
Consuelo works with children, parents, and educators, and she
has produced a video entitled "Porque No--Why Not?" to teach
practical techniques to assist young people in overcoming
obstacles and achieving success; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Consuelo has earned numerous
awards and commendations for her outstanding achievements,
including the Legion of Merit, the Army Achievement Medal, and
National Image's Uniformed Services Award; she was honored by the
San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with the 2002 Business
Achievement Award, and she appears frequently in lists of the top
women in the country; and
WHEREAS, A highly respected leader, an inspirational
speaker, and an exemplary role model, Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch
exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit of America; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend
Consuelo Kickbusch for her exceptional achievements and extend
to her best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
