SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 110
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Rita N. Morgan, who is being honored at the Second
Annual Spring Hat and Tea Extravaganza "Salute to Women of
Distinction," sponsored by the Minnie H. Goodlow Page Section
of the National Council of Negro Women, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, A humanitarian and community leader, Rita Morgan
has been an active member of numerous organizations and has
worked throughout her life to empower her fellow citizens and
to assist those in need; and
WHEREAS, She is noted for her service to business and the
community; for her many contributions, she received the
President's Award from the Texas Interdenominational Minister's
Alliance in 2003, the Positively Oak Cliff Award of the 40th
National Small Business Appreciation Week in 2003, the
Thomas Tolbert Elementary Volunteer Award in 1999, and the
Iota Lambda Business Award in 1996; and
WHEREAS, A distinguished and exemplary lady, Rita Morgan
is a source of strength to many, and her endeavors reflect her
dedication to helping others succeed and her commitment to the
betterment of our communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend
Rita N. Morgan on her exceptional accomplishments and extend
congratulations to her on the well-deserved tribute she is
receiving at the Second Annual Spring Hat and Tea Extravaganza
"Salute to Women of Distinction"; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
