SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 114
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Hazel Bogard Fingers, who is being honored at the
Second Annual Spring Hat and Tea Extravaganza "Salute to Women of
Distinction," sponsored by the Minnie H. Goodlow Page Section of
the National Council of Negro Women, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, A humanitarian and community leader, Hazel Fingers
has been an active member of numerous organizations and has
worked throughout her life to empower her fellow citizens and to
assist those in need; and
WHEREAS, She is noted for her service with the civil rights
movement, for her work as president of the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People in Little Rock, Arkansas,
and for her service with the School Board and Political Action
Board in Arkansas; in 2004, she was invited by Rosa Parks to have
her name listed on the "Wall of Tolerance" in the New Civil Rights
Memorial Center in Montgomery, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, A distinguished and exemplary lady, Hazel Fingers
is a source of strength to many, and her endeavors reflect her
dedication to helping others succeed and her commitment to the
betterment of our communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend
Hazel Bogard Fingers on her exceptional accomplishments and
extend congratulations to her on the well-deserved tribute she
is receiving at the Second Annual Spring Hat and Tea Extravaganza
"Salute to Women of Distinction"; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
