SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 115
In Memory
of
Charles Robert Moorhead, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio and of Penney Farms, Florida, in mourning the loss of Charles Robert Moorhead, Jr., who died April 1, 2004; and WHEREAS, Charles Robert Moorhead, Jr., was born in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, on June 4, 1919; he served in the European theater during World War II and was an intelligence officer in the Korean Conflict; he retired in 1960 as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Counterintelligence Corps; and WHEREAS, After retiring from the Army, he became a history instructor at Allen Academy in Bryan and later worked in guidance and special education for Bexar County schools in San Antonio; he retired from the education profession in 1980; and WHEREAS, He served the Presbyterian church as deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher, and he was a 32nd degree Mason and a longtime member of the Acacia Lodge in Blairsville, Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, Charles Moorhead had been a resident of Penney Farms, Florida, since 1999; a respected and distinguished gentleman who enriched the lives of all he knew, he had a positive outlook on life and lived each day to the fullest; and WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to Janet Olson and Nancy Dewey, the nieces of Charles Robert Moorhead, Jr., and to his many other beloved relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles Robert Moorhead, Jr. Wentworth ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on May 6, 2004, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
