SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 117
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Bailey Middle School Wind Ensemble for representing
Texas at the 2004 joint conference of the Southern Division of
the College Band Directors National Association and the National
Band Association in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Performing at Emory University on February 28, 2004,
alongside bands from the University of North Carolina, the
University of Georgia, Florida International University, and other
schools, the Bailey Middle School Wind Ensemble received a
standing ovation; and
WHEREAS, The 75 members of the ensemble are talented
musicians, and they performed exceptionally well under the
direction of Diane Gorzycki, Bill Haehnel, and Scott Solkofske;
and
WHEREAS, In representing Texas at this important national
conference, the members of the Bailey Middle School Wind Ensemble
demonstrated their outstanding skills and excellent training;
the students and their band directors have brought great credit
to their school and community and the State of Texas; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the members
and directors of the Bailey Middle School Wind Ensemble for
representing Texas at this national conference of bands and band
directors and extend best wishes to them for the future; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the band as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
