SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 120
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Ray Marvin Keck III, who is being inducted as a 2004 Laureate of the Laredo Business Hall of Fame by Junior Achievement of Laredo on May 13, 2004; and WHEREAS, The Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame annually recognizes the most esteemed leaders of business and free enterprise in the greater Laredo area; and WHEREAS, Dr. Ray Marvin Keck III has served as president of Texas A&M International University since September, 2001; he served the school as associate professor of Spanish and chair of the Department of Language, Literature and Arts from 1994 to 1999 and as provost and vice president for academic affairs from 1999 until 2001; and WHEREAS, Deeply committed to improving educational opportunities for the residents of Laredo, Dr. Keck has initiated many new programs at Texas A&M International University; under his leadership, the school has created a program in fine arts, revised the Spanish curriculum, instituted a faculty research track, developed an Honors program and organized the Office of Distance Learning; and WHEREAS, A visionary and innovative leader, Dr. Keck's many accomplishments reflect his dedication to the people of Laredo, and he is truly a role model for the young people of today; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Ray Marvin Keck III for his outstanding contributions to the field of education and to the community and extend congratulations to him on his induction as a 2004 Laureate of the Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
