SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 121

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Nancy de Anda on the occasion of her induction into the 
Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame as a 2004 
Laureate; and
	WHEREAS, The Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall
of Fame annually recognizes individuals who have contributed 
greatly to the betterment of Laredo through excellence in 
business, outstanding vision and innovation, and exemplary 
leadership; Nancy de Anda will be honored at the annual awards 
banquet on May 13, 2004; and
	WHEREAS, Nancy Marie Landes was born in Prince William County, 
Virginia; she graduated from Radford College and then moved to 
Laredo; in 1974 she married Juvencio de Anda, who had been in the 
clothing business; the couple opened Juvencio's Men's Wear in 1975; 
and
	WHEREAS, Together they developed their business into a 
successful and far-reaching enterprise that included alterations, 
tuxedo rentals, and Gateway Cleaners; at the same time, they were 
generous supporters of the Laredo community through their numerous 
civic activities; and
	WHEREAS, Nancy serves on the board of directors of United Day 
School; she served on advisory boards for Mercy Regional Medical 
Center and for the Laredo Regional and Webb County food banks, and 
she initiated a Coats for Kids program through a partnership 
between Gateway Cleaners and the Women's City Club; and
	WHEREAS, A dedicated civic leader and successful business 
owner, Nancy de Anda has made a positive impact in Laredo, and she 
is an exemplary role model for the young people in the community; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Nancy de Anda 
for her business success and her outstanding service to the 
community and extend to her congratulations on being inducted into 
the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame for 2004; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an 
expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
