SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 122
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize J. Jorge Verduzco, who is being inducted as a 2004 Laureate of the Laredo Business Hall of Fame by Junior Achievement of Laredo on May 13, 2004; and WHEREAS, The Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame annually recognizes individuals who have contributed greatly to the betterment of Laredo through their business excellence, vision and innovation, and exemplary leadership; and WHEREAS, J. Jorge Verduzco is the executive vice president and director of sales and marketing for International Bank of Commerce-Laredo; since joining the bank in 1981, he has focused on international business development, market research, government relations, and marketing and advertising on behalf of the bank and International Bancshares Corporation; and WHEREAS, A longtime proponent of economic development along the Texas-Mexico border, Mr. Verduzco serves as chairman of the Texas-Mexico Authority advisory board and as a member of the policy board of the Texas Department of Commerce, and he participates in other critical border development initiatives; and WHEREAS, Active in business and civic work for more than 25 years, Mr. Verduzco has worked with the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and Rotary Club and has served on countless advisory boards and committees; through his efforts, Laredo is truly a better place to live; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend J. Jorge Verduzco for his many outstanding contributions to the people of Laredo and extend congratulations to him on his induction as a 2004 Laureate of the Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
