SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay 
tribute to the life of Juvencio de Anda on the occasion of his 
posthumous induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo 
Business Hall of Fame as a 2004 Laureate; and
	WHEREAS, Juvencio de Anda will be remembered at the annual 
awards banquet being held May 13, 2004, to honor the Junior 
Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame laureates, who have 
been selected on the basis of their successful business endeavors, 
their vision and innovation, their exemplary leadership and their 
contributions to the Laredo community; and
	WHEREAS, Juvencio came to this country from Jalisco, Mexico, 
and worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps to help support his 
family; he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World 
War II and was a member of the United States Air Force Reserves; and
	WHEREAS, He completed high school while in the military and 
attended Laredo Junior College; after working in a drugstore and 
a clothing store, he opened his own store, Sande Casual Wear, 
with a partner; he married Nancy Marie Landes in 1974, and the 
next year the couple opened Juvencio's Men's Wear, which became 
renowned for the outstanding service it provided to the people of 
Laredo; and
	WHEREAS, Always involved with civic affairs, Juvencio was a 
lifetime member of the Optimist Club and a member of the Elks Club 
and the International Good Neighbor Council; and
	WHEREAS, His personal attention to customer service and his 
warm support of other local businesses earned him an outstanding 
reputation in the Laredo community, and his legacy is an 
inspiration to the young people of Laredo; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby honor and commemorate 
the life of Juvencio de Anda on the occasion of his posthumous 
induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo 2004 Business Hall 
of Fame; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an 
expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
