SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 133
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
pay tribute to Juan J. Amaro for his outstanding service to the
San Antonio community as a member of the board of trustees of the
San Antonio Water System; and
WHEREAS, Since his appointment to the board of trustees 10
years ago, J. J. Amaro has fulfilled his responsibilities with
exceptional skill and dedication; and
WHEREAS, J. J. Amaro took a prominent leadership role
working with citizens committees and other agencies to assess
water resources policies, evaluate conservation programs, and
develop the city's first long-range water plan; he also led a
regional effort to implement a state management system to protect
the Edwards Aquifer for all time; and
WHEREAS, Under his watch, the public utility system of one
of the largest cities in the nation earned the reputation as one
of the best; the San Antonio Water System has captured numerous
awards for its engineering and environmental excellence, its
wastewater treatment operations, and its public education and
outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, J. J. is vice president
of marketing for BudCo, Limited; he is a devoted family man and
has been married to his wife, Graciela, for 32 years; he is the
father of three children and has found time to be active in his
church and contribute to many worthy projects in the community;
and
WHEREAS, J. J. Amaro has been an inspiration to those who
have had the pleasure to know and to work with him, and his
leadership with the San Antonio Water System will be greatly
missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby express gratitude
to Juan J. Amaro for his many years of invaluable service to the
citizens of San Antonio and to the San Antonio Water System and
extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
