SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 148
In Memory
of
Laura Jean Wetzel
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the Wetzel
family and friends in mourning the loss of Laura Jean Wetzel, who
died May 3, 2004, at the age of 51; and
WHEREAS, Laura was born in Midland on June 24, 1952; she
attended the American School of Paris in France for four years and
graduated from Fox Lane High School in Mount Kisco, New York; and
WHEREAS, She attended Endicott College in Boston before
returning to Texas and working for Motorola; in 1978, she suffered
a severe head injury as the result of a car accident; the event
dramatically changed her life; and
WHEREAS, Laura was well known for her generous nature and
kind heart; she was a beloved daughter and sister, and she leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by all those whose
lives she touched; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Laura Jean Wetzel: her
parents, Frank Harry and Ramona Schneider Wetzel; her sisters,
Karen Wetzel and Anita Zurrel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and
cousins; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be prepared for her
family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
Laura Jean Wetzel.
