SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 157
In Memory
of
Kurt David Knapp
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Kerrville and Fredericksburg and citizens across the state in mourning the loss of Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kurt David Knapp, who died in the line of duty on May 7, 2004, at the age of 28; and WHEREAS, Kurt Knapp was born on October 8, 1975, in Prescott, Arizona, to J. Dudley Knapp and Lois Imojene Huckstep Knapp; he graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville in 1994 and attended Hill College in Hillsboro; and WHEREAS, He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Southwest Texas State University and attended the Homer Garrison Memorial Training Academy for the Texas Department of Public Safety, graduating in 1998; and WHEREAS, Kurt was a State Trooper with the Highway Patrol Service, Region 6, Texas Highway Patrol Division, and was stationed in Fredericksburg; he was proud to be a Texas State Trooper and brought dedication and commitment to his position, and he was prepared to put his life on the line to protect his fellow Texans; and WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and courage, Trooper Knapp gave unselfishly to others; he was a devoted husband, father, and son, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Kurt David Knapp: his wife, Jennifer; his daughter, Makayla; his son, Wyatt; his mother, Jeannie Knapp; his father, J. Dudley Knapp; his sister, Joy Hafer; and his grandmother, Lucille Viaing; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of State Trooper Kurt David Knapp. Fraser ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on May 13, 2004, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
