SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 162
In Memory
of
Isela Rubalcava
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of El Paso in mourning the loss of United States Army
Sergeant Isela Rubalcava, who died on May 8, 2004, at the age of 25,
while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Rubalcava made the ultimate sacrifice
for her country in a foreign land during a time of extreme danger;
she was killed just three days before her 26th birthday when a
mortar round struck near her in Mosul, Iraq; her death is one of
those sacrifices made by the heroic members of our military and
their families; and
WHEREAS, An El Paso native, Isela was a 1996 graduate of
Canutillo High School; she joined the Army in 2000 and was a supply
technician with the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division--the Army's
Stryker Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Lewis, Washington; she
had been in Iraq since November of 2003; and
WHEREAS, Isela was a member of a large and close family,
and her laughter and her zest for life will be greatly missed; she
was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, and sister, and she leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to
United States Army Sergeant Isela Rubalcava and extend sincere
condolences to her bereaved family: her parents, Ramon and
Maria Isela Rubalcava; her two brothers; her grandparents; and
her other beloved relatives; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
Sergeant Isela Rubalcava.
