SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 203
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Nancy Fleming, who is leaving her position as chief
of staff for Senator Jane Nelson to take a position with the
United States Ambassador to Saudi Arabia; and
WHEREAS, Nancy began her career in the Senate in 1993 as
the committee clerk for the State Affairs Committee; and
WHEREAS, She served for a brief time in the Legislative
Affairs Office of the Texas Department of Transportation and
rejoined the Senate in 1994 as legislative director for
Senator Nelson and was promoted to chief of staff in 1995; and
WHEREAS, As a trusted adviser to Senator Nelson, Nancy has
fulfilled her wide-ranging responsibilities with outstanding
professionalism and knowledge and with exceptional poise and
leadership; and
WHEREAS, Always active in community activities, she is an
adventurous world traveler and has longed to work overseas; now
her dream is coming true; and
WHEREAS, Her colleagues in the office of Senator Nelson and
throughout the Senate are proud to see Nancy assume her new and
adventurous role, yet this is also a time of great sadness
because she is leaving; she has been a loyal, hardworking staffer
and her presence will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Nancy Fleming
for her exceptional service in the Texas Senate and extend to her
best wishes in her new venture in Saudi Arabia; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
